A man shot his girlfriend in the face then turned the gun on himself, DeKalb County police said.

The shooting happened about 4 a.m. Thursday at Northgate Townhouses in the 3000 block of Lawrenceville Highway near Tucker, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Police, however, didn’t receive a 911 call from the injured woman until about 6:45 a.m., the television station reported.

Officers suspect the woman, in her 20s, lost consciousness and called police when she came to, according to Channel 2.

No one else was home at the time of the shooting, police said.

The woman’s boyfriend was found in unit No. 3 in the townhome community.

The woman has two children, local residents told Channel 2.
