COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested a man and a woman accused of leading police on a chase with two children in the car.

Police say it all started when they received a call from the Home Depot on Cumberland Parkway Friday afternoon.

Workers told them a man was attempting to shoplift, and when workers confronted him, he ran. Workers told police they believed the man was armed.

The man then ran across the street to a Chick-fil-A and hid in the bathroom. When workers at the restaurant called police, the man ran towards a nearby Starbucks and jumped into the backseat of a car with a woman and two children, according to police.

When an officer approached the car, they say the woman took off, backing over the officer’s foot. Police say the officer fire his gun as that happened and it hit the car’s back passenger window.

The woman kept driving, hitting a customer’s Mercedes and two police cars as she left the parking lot. Police say she then led police a half mile down Cumberland Boulevard before crashing the car.

The man got out and ran into the woods, where he was captured.

The woman was arrested and her two children were taken into police custody.
