A Woodstock man was arrested Monday after attempting to meet who he thought was an underage teenager for sex, Cherokee County deputies said.
What the 35-year-old didn’t know was that he had actually been communicating online with an undercover investigator posing as the child as part of a sex sting, sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker said in a news release.
Deputies arrested Marvin Civil when he arrived at the undisclosed location to meet the teen, who he believed was younger than 15, authorities said.

Civil faces three charges in connection with the incident, including criminal attempt to commit child molestation, human trafficking and violating the state’s computer pornography and child exploitation act, Baker said.
He remains held at the Cherokee County jail without bond, records show.
