Paulding County authorities arrested a teacher they say pulled a chair from under a special needs student, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Terri Johnston turned herself in Tuesday and was charged with simple battery after the incident at South Paulding High School, the news station reported. Paulding officials told the television station the incident happened in December.
She has since bonded out of jail.
Johnston allegedly pulled a chair from under a 20-year-old, Paulding sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Ashley Henson told Channel 2.
“And from what I’ve been told, there were actually other staff in the room that witnessed the event,” Henson said.
Johnston was fired from the school district, Channel 2 reported.
“We did not get any reports that the student was injured,” Henson told the news station. “But obviously, that’s not something you want to do to anybody, especially a special needs student.”
