A Lawrenceville man faces charges after allegedly setting furniture on fire at a Hall County apartment with four family members inside, including two children, authorities said.
Jordan Micah McLain, 22, is accused of setting the fire around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment in the 2300 block of North Cliff Colony Drive, Gainesville police said in a news release. No one was hurt in the fire, but investigators determined it was intentionally set.
Two adults and two children were inside the apartment when McLain allegedly set the fire, the release said. Police didn’t specify the relationships between the four people and McLain, but they are all related.
McLain was not at the scene when officers arrived, prompting police to obtain warrants for his arrest. He was found later that day around 1 p.m. at the HomeTowne Studios apartment complex in the 1100 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway, the release said. He allegedly tried to lock himself in a laundry room before being arrested.
He was booked into the Hall County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, first-degree arson, obstruction of an officer and two counts of misdemeanor theft, jail records show.
As of Friday evening, he remained in jail without bond.
