Joe Hobson Jr. thought he’d found a clever hiding spot.
But after a two-hour search, Rockdale County authorities located the 26-year-old’s “feet protruding from a cold, muddy drainage creek where he had buried himself and become stuck,” according to a Conyers Police Department Facebook post.
Conyers police tried pulling over Hobson on Thursday afternoon, but he led them on a chase along I-20, according to the post. Hobson eventually hid in the creek in the 1600 block of Dogwood Drive.

Hobson was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities said they found 29 grams of cocaine, seven grams of methamphetamine, 12 ounces of marijuana, oxycodone, liquid codeine, two handguns (one stolen out of Covington) and $4,000 cash.
He remains in the Rockdale County jail without bond on multiple charges, including trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs marijuana or methamphetamine, possession/distribution of marijuana and obstruction of law enforcement.
Hobson has two prior convictions in Rockdale County dating to 2009, according to the Department of Corrections.
He was sentenced to two years for a 2009 cocaine possession charge but served just six months, according to the DOC. In 2012, he was sentenced to two years for obstruction of a law enforcement officer and one year in prison for impersonating another person and marijuana possession. He served one year for those convictions.
