A Marietta woman is in jail on accusations that she abandoned her child in South Carolina, police say.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said 4-year-old Zoe Brown, of Marietta, was left in a stroller on an Anderson, S.C. family’s doorstep Tuesday night.

Friday, Tongela Denise McBride, 37, was arrested at her apartment in the 1600 block of Cobb Parkway, according to jail records.

McBride faces charges of unlawful neglect of child, Anderson County Sheriff’s spokesman Chad McBride said. The child’s father, Alonzo Brown, 31, was arrested in Anderson on Saturday and also faces child abandonment charges, Chad McBride said.

Tongela McBride is awaiting extradition to her native South Carolina, and the little girl is in the care of a foster home, Anderson Sheriff’s officials said.

Bond has been denied for Alonzo Brown, Chad McBride said, and jail records show that Tongela McBride is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
