He was trying to get to work on time.

Michael Leverett’s workplace is where police told Channel 2 Action News they finally caught him because someone tipped them off. They recognized his motorcycle parked behind a building on Jonquil Drive, and they also recognized his distinct helmet and black leather jacket.

Dashcam video obtained by Channel 2 allegedly shows Leverett driving nearly 100 mph while being chased by police on Windy Hill Road.

A patrol officer allegedly had seen Leverett speeding on two other occasions over the past couple of months. Officers had called off previous chases because road conditions became too dangerous to continue at such high speeds, Channel 2 reported.

“These are all surface streets. It’s very congested,” Smyrna police Sgt. Louis Defense told the news station. “You’ve got pedestrians walking (and) crossing, so his driving was very reckless at best.”

Leverett faces nearly a dozen charges, including attempting to elude an officer, Channel 2 reported. He’s out on bond, according to jail records.
