For thieves who burglarized a gun range twice before, the third time was a charm, but this time for the owner.
Police say thieves entered American Heritage Gun Range twice in May and made off with guns, Channel 2 Action News reported. The third time they did it, they didn’t know owner George Mazzant was watching.
Mazzant watched a live feed of security cameras on his iPad from his bed as thieves targeted the range again Tuesday. He then called McDonough police, who surrounded the business while listening to everything Mazzant told them.
“I could tell the police where they were and what they were doing,” he said.
The details paid off as police caught the thieves near a fence.
“We saturated the area, surrounding the business, including all the back streets,” Maj. Kyle Helgerson with McDonough police told the station, “and were able to apprehend four of the five burglars before they gained entry to the business.”
Police arrested four people in connection with the thefts, two of whom were getaway drivers,” Channel 2 reported. Their names and charges were not released.
The thieves stole more than 120 guns during the three burglaries and nearly caused Mazzant to go out of business, Channel 2 reported.
“It’s been torture for me, my wife and my whole family,” he said. “It’s been torture.”
