Officers who arrived at a Gwinnett County home Wednesday afternoon found the grisly scene of a suspected murder-suicide.

They found two bodies inside a house off Highland Ridge Point in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Gwinnett police said in a news release.

Police were performing a wellness check at the house when they discovered the bodies of a man and woman who appeared to have been shot to death, the release said. Their names have not been released, but police said they are family members.

Investigators said they believe the man shot and killed the woman before turning the gun on himself. Police are working to determine a motive.
