A pedestrian was hit and killed Friday evening while walking across Ga. 78 in Loganville, officials confirmed.

Delta Dawn Wilbanks, 37, of Loganville, was hit and killed while walking on the westbound side of the highway between a Burger King and a Kroger, city spokesman Robbie Schwartz told AJC.com. The incident happened about 6:30 p.m.

Wilbanks was allegedly not in a crosswalk during the incident. No charges are expected against the driver, Schwartz said. However, the incident remains under investigation by Loganville police.
