What started as a meet-up led to a robbery-turned-shooting that injured two people at a Henry County luxury apartment complex Monday afternoon, McDonough police said.

About 3:30 p.m., a woman went to the Estates at McDonough to meet up with a man, police said at a news conference. Instead, she ran into another man, who told police she tried to rob him then shot him.

Police said the man fired a shot back and ran to the leasing office. The victim and the woman did not know each other.

The two were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where police said the attempted robbery victim was in “good” condition.

No other details were released in the shooting.
