Authorities have charged a man with murder and other offenses in connection with the death of a Polk County toddler in late October, authorities said Thursday.
Dustin Drew Putnal, 27, is in the Polk County jail in connection with the death of 21-month-old Ella Grayce Pointer, sheriff Johnny Moats said. Putnal already was in custody on a probation violation when the new charges were filed Wednesday.
Pointer died Oct. 30 at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after she was found unresponsive at a Cedartown apartment, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. She was left in the care of Putnal, her mother’s boyfriend, and an unnamed roommate while her mother was at work.
Other charges include two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of aggravated sexual battery, said Jack Browning, who is the district attorney for the judicial circuit that includes Polk County.
