A man was arrested Monday in Louisiana in connection with a deadly triple shooting at a DeKalb County motel, police said.

Jawon Mosley faces unspecified charges in the July 30 incident at the Budget Inn in the 2900 block of Gus Place near Decatur. One person was killed and two others suffered minor injuries, according to police.

Last month, police in Houma, La., about 57 miles southwest of New Orleans, said DeKalb authorities contacted them regarding Mosley’s whereabouts.

“After speaking with authorities in Georgia, Houma police detectives and narcotics agents received information that Mosley was in Houma,” Louisiana authorities said in a Facebook post. “They developed information that he was on Stovall Street, which led them to secure a search warrant.”

Mosley, 20, was arrested about 3 a.m. Monday at a home on that street, police said. DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell confirmed the arrest in a statement to AJC.com, but said she could not go into details about the case.

In the DeKalb incident, police told Channel 2 Action News that three suspects entered a motel room and attempted to rob the victims.

“We are still searching for the other suspects,” Campbell said later Monday.

According to Houma police, authorities in Louisiana had been looking for Mosley since two shootings in May.

Officers said they responded to the 900 block of Barataria Avenue on May 24 and learned Mosley was involved in an altercation. During the dispute, Mosley pulled a weapon and began firing at the victim, hitting him in his lower torso, police said. Mosley ran from the scene.

That same month, an 18-year-old man was shot in his leg, treated at a local hospital and released, authorities said. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office took out a warrant against Mosley in connection with that case. Houma is the parish seat of Terrebonne Parish.

Mosley was not the only arrest Monday. Essence Rockward, a 23-year-old woman who was in the house where Mosley was found, was charged with possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs, illegal use of narcotics in the presence of a juvenile and obstruction of justice after police said they found her with Xanax and marijuana while in the presence of a child under the age of 5.

Mosley and Rockward were taken to the Terrebonne Parish jail.
