Fayetteville police are investigating a shooting that took place at a gas station.

Fayetteville police are investigating a shooting that took place at a gas station Monday afternoon and led to a Chuck E. Cheese and Walgreens being taped off, authorities said.

The incident took place about 3 p.m. Monday at the Fayetteville Discount Tobacco gas station off Glynn Street, city spokeswoman Ann Marie Burdett told AJC.com.

Some sort of interaction took place between the occupants of two vehicles outside the gas station, Burdett said. Someone inside one of the cars then opened fire at the occupants of the other vehicle.

The person who was shot drove away from the scene and crashed into a car about a mile north on Creekwood Trail, which is near the Chuck E. Cheese and Walgreens, Burdett said. The crash prompted police to block Creekwood Trail and the parking lots to both buildings.

The injured person, whose condition was not provided, was taken to a hospital.

The suspect is believed to be in a newer-model black BMW convertible, possibly a 6 Series with black rims, Burdett said. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
