A dispute over a dog ended with a deadly shooting Friday morning in DeKalb County, police said.

Amanda Allen, also known as Amanda Longmire, 28, allegedly shot and killed her 24-year-old neighbor at an apartment in the 10000 block of Stonecrest Trail, DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell told AJC.com. The complex is near the Mall of Stonecrest.

The victim was later identified by police as Tomorrow Milford of Lithonia.

According to police, the two were involved in an ongoing dispute over Milford’s dogs’ behavior, and on Friday, the dogs had a run-in with Allen’s pooch.

That feud escalated to a physical confrontation about 8:15 a.m., when Milford was shot in the chest, Campbell said. She died at the scene.

DeKalb police charged Allen with murder Friday afternoon. She is being held in the DeKalb County jail.

An acquaintance of the victim was present during the confrontation and was also interviewed by DeKalb police, Campbell said.
