A 3-year-old boy found in a lake died after being rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, Marietta police Officer Chuck McPhilamy said Wednesday.

The child’s mother reported him missing about 3 p.m. from an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Powder Springs Street, McPhilamy said. The boy was found in Reeves Lake near the shoreline.

Marietta fire officials and police and Cobb County sheriff’s deputies searched for the boy for 30 minutes before discovering him.

Marietta police are investigating the incident.

A 13-year-old Florida boy has been charged with a felony. Police say he threatened to shoot up River Springs Middle School in Orange City, Fla. Police said several students reported the boy's comments.
