The man accused of killing his 16-year-old sister while she slept in her Atlanta duplex has not been given a bond, according to the DeKalb County jail website.
Ashley Chantell Oglesby died from multiple gunshot wounds Thursday at Grady Memorial Hospital after she was shot in her bed.
Marquaris Jamal Oglesby, 27, was booked into the DeKalb County jail on murder charges.
Atlanta police said Friday they still had no “known motive” for the alleged murder at The Villages of East Lake. Aunt Sherry Morton said her nephew had some “psychiatric problems.”
DeKalb County Magistrate Court does not normally set a bond on murder charge, court officials said. A Superior Court judge may later set a bond, officials said.
Morton told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution she urged Marquaris Oglesby to seek medical treatment this week because he had been talking irrationally.
“He was talking out of his head,” Morton recalled. “When he comes to his senses, he is going to be distraught because he cherished the ground she walked on.”
