Police in Marysville, Washington, arrested a babysitter this week suspected of murder in the death of a 4-month-old girl last February.
According to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner, the infant died from anoxic encephalopathy, formerly known as "shaken baby syndrome."
Anoxic encephalopathy is a serious brain injury resulting from forcefully shaking a child.
Police said the woman, a family friend, was babysitting the child at her home in the 6600 block of 94th Street Northeast in Marysville on Feb. 26.
The woman called 911 that morning to report that the infant wasn't breathing. The child was put on life support at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but died on Feb. 29.
The arrest was delayed due to pending lab and forensic results.
