Only a few clouds remain from earlier fog, and rain is on the way, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists said.
Expect scattered showers Tuesday evening through about 10 p.m. And as a cold front approaches early Wednesday, it will bring with it strong and isolated severe storms from Calhoun to Rome and west Georgia, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
In that area, heavy rain could bring with it damaging winds and lightning.
As the storms move through metro Atlanta between 8 and 10 a.m., lightning and wind gusts near 50 mph could also make appearances, meteorologists said.
The rain will, however, move to the east midday and begin clearing, Nitz added.
Wednesday’s high is expected to be 66 degrees, which isn’t much higher than the low of 61 degrees.
Temperatures will drop into the 40s Thursday and into freezing ranges Friday and Saturday.
Metro Atlanta will warm to the low 70s and scattered showers will hit the area Tuesday evening through about 10 p.m.
Temperatures were 67 degrees in Atlanta, 63 degrees in Blairsville and 73 degrees in Griffin just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.
