“Numerous people” were at the scene when two Chevy Camaros sped away after someone shot an Atlanta teen in the chest Wednesday, but no one said they saw who did the shooting, according to Atlanta police.

Surveillance video footage, however, showed several males apparently gambling between the two cars shortly before the shooting, and then speeding away as the teen lay nearby on the sidewalk after being shot.

Investigators said they weren’t able to see the actual shooting due to a gap in the video, and couldn’t determine whether the shooter fled the scene in one of the Camaros.

The youth, whom police did not identify, survived the shooting, and police said he was in stable condition Wednesday at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was initially described as 15 years old but as 16 years old in a police report.

The shooting took place on the 1500 block of Hardee Street in northeast Atlanta at about 2:30 p.m Wednesday.

Police said the teen was standing in front of a unit at an apartment complex when he was shot in the upper chest near his shoulder.

One female told police she was on her iPad communicating with a friend when the shooting happened, police said.

Two other females in a car in the parking lot said they “were making out” when they “suddenly heard a loud bang” but didn’t see what happened, police said.

Police said they recovered two shell casings and a pair of athletic gloves near where the teen was shot.
