Atlanta cops: 2 arrested after car burglars shoot at victims

Atlanta police reported two suspected car burglars were in custody Friday, with one suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.

Four people were allegedly breaking into vehicles at 1685 Marietta Road when they were spotted by the owners about 9 a.m. and fled, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

The suspected burglars ran and jumped the fence and one allegedly fired a weapon toward the victims but instead “struck one of his accomplices in the leg,” Jones said.

Two people were in custody and police were searching for the shooter and another accomplice, Jones said. The identities of the suspects in custody were not immediately released.

The suspected burglars were in a champagne colored GMC Terrain, which had a stolen license plate and may have been stolen, Jones said.
