Atlanta police and Georgia State Patrol troopers were on a joint exercise Tuesday in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police and Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested four people Tuesday after three separate incidents involving stolen vehicles, a spokeswoman said.

Officers and troopers were on a joint detail and were riding together in GSP vehicles, spokeswoman Lisa Bender said.

Police said the incidents were:

• A GSP vehicle pursued a stolen Chrysler 300 in southwest Atlanta. The trooper stopped the vehicle on Metropolitan Parkway, and the suspect was taken into custody after running from the scene.

• A GSP vehicle pursued a stolen Toyota Camry near Langston Avenue and Hood Drive in southwest Atlanta. GSP stopped the vehicle, and the suspect was taken into custody after running.

• A police vehicle spotted a stolen BMW in the area of Graymont Drive in southwest Atlanta, and a police helicopter assisted in pursuing the vehicle by air. Three suspects got out of the vehicle and ran. One of the suspects fired what police think was one shot at officers.

“It does not appear at this time that any officers returned fire,” Bender said. Officers set up a perimeter and captured two of the three suspects and recovered one firearm.

Information about the suspects was not available.
