Arrest made shortly after pizza restaurant robbed at gunpoint

A man who allegedly robbed a Papa John’s Pizza at gunpoint Wednesday night in southwest Atlanta was arrested soon after nearby, police said.

Michael Dwayne Ogletree, 25, went into the restaurant in the 2600 block of Metropolitan Parkway about 11:30 p.m. and demanded cash, police said in an emailed statement.

Ogletree then ran from the scene, and officers got a description and began searching the area, police said.

Someone matching the description was found nearby on Cleveland Avenue, and as officers got nearer, the person ran into a wooded area.

Police set up a perimeter and, using a police dog, found Ogletree in the woods. He still had the money and the gun, which was reported stolen to Morrow police in July.

Ogletree is charged with armed robbery, five counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, having a concealed weapon, having a firearm during commission of a felony, and obstruction.

Chris McNabb was served warrants Wednesday while he was in the Newton County Jail on different charges.
