Police are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting of the night manager outside the Applebee's in Fayetteville early Sunday.
The restaurant’s surveillance video shows Gregory Smith, 27, leaving the restaurant just before 3 a.m., Channel 2 Action News reported.
His girlfriend found him shot to death in his car in the restaurant’s parking lot several hours later.
In her 911 call, she told police that she went to Applebee’s on North Glynn Street to look for Smith around 6:30 a.m., Channel 2 reported Monday.
“He didn’t come home last night,” she said. “I came up here ‘cause he hadn’t been answering the phone and it was going straight to voicemail.”
After she found Smith in his vehicle with a gunshot through the window, she told the 911 dispatcher that she could not go to the car to see if Smith was still alive because the couple’s young daughter was with her.
Police are searching video surveillance cameras in the area for clues.
Fayetteville police Lt. Mike Whitlow previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Applebee’s is offering a “significant” reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Scott Gibson at 770-719-4226.
