An alleged bank robber was undone when an Antioch bank teller could not read his poorly written holdup note, authorities said.
Police said that at about 9:45 a.m. Monday a man entered the Wells Fargo Bank in the 2600 block of Somerville Road in Antioch, Calif., and approached a bank teller.
Without saying a word, the man produced a note and handed it to the teller.
Police said the teller was unable to read the note due to poor handwriting and contacted her manager to assist her.
While the teller consulted with her manager, the suspect exited the bank through the back door, according to police.
Eventually the bank staff determined that the suspect was attempting to rob the bank and contacted Antioch police.
Officers later received a call reporting an unwanted guest at the nearby Somersville Towne Center.
Police responded to the scene and found 29-year-old Jamal Garrett who matched the description of the man who attempted to rob the Wells Fargo bank.
Witnesses from the earlier attempted bank robbery were contacted and positively identified Garrett as the suspect, police said.
Garrett was arrested for attempting to rob the bank as well as for an outstanding warrant for parole violations, according to police.
