Two men were arrested this week after Cherokee County deputies conducted separate investigations into internet crimes against children.
Andy Estremera, 22, of Gainesville, and Jerome Walker, 25, of Canton, thought they were chatting online with girls who were 14 years old and younger, according to authorities. Instead, they became wrapped up in sting operations with undercover detectives.
Estremera allegedly requested and sent “lewd images” online before requesting the detective he was chatting with take a taxi and meet him in Hall County, Cherokee sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Jay Baker said. He was arrested Monday night at his home in Gainesville and will face charges in Cherokee County.
He is expected to be booked into the county jail Wednesday on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, obscene internet contact with a minor, and electronic distribution of obscene material to a minor. He will have no bond, Baker said.
Walker was arrested Tuesday when he showed up to a meetup location in Woodstock. He allegedly offered money to what he thought was a young girl to spend the weekend with him.
Deputies took Walker into custody when he arrived about 3 p.m. at the Cherokee County Recreation Center, which is next door to the sheriff’s criminal investigation precinct, Baker said.
He faces charges of attempted child molestation and pandering and is being held in the jail without bond.
Both men were charged under Georgia’s Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act.
