200 phones, tablets stolen from AT&T store
Atlanta police are seeking two men in connection with an armed robbery in which 200 cellphones and tablet computers were stolen.
On Sept. 8, two men wearing hoodies entered the AT&T store in the 1500 block of Piedmont Avenue, according to the incident report. The man with the grey hoodie had a gun, and he forced an employee to go to the rear of the store. The other man was wearing a black hoodie.
The armed man asked the manager, who was already in the rear, where the safe was located, the report said. The manager told them where the safe room was, and then the man told the employees to lie on the ground, according to the report.
Both victims could hear the men taking the phones from the safe room, according to the report. The men then ran out the back door.
The employees told police at the time that all the iPhones in the store were taken.
The average retail price for a new iPhone is roughly $500 to $750. Regular tablets range anywhere from $200 to $400.
This video distributed by police shows one of the men taking packaged phones from a cabinet in the rear of the store.
