A woman struck by a Mercedes Benz on Cobb Parkway was apparently jaywalking, and police say they do not anticipate filing charges against the driver.

The 33-year-old woman, whose name has not yet been released, was hit around 9:15 p.m. Friday by a southbound vehicle near the intersection of Lake Park Drive, said Master Patrolman Ed Cason, of Smyrna police. She was in critical condition Saturday with severe head injuries.

The woman was crossing Cobb Parkway outside of a designated crosswalk at the time, Cason said.

Five people have been struck by vehicles — one fatally — around that intersection during the past decade, according to state Department of Transportation data analyzed by the AJC.
