Cops: Package near Atlanta City Hall was a backpack

A suspicious package found near Atlanta City Hall was instead a backpack, police said an hour later.

The Atlanta police bomb squad was sent to investigate a suspicious package, discovered just before 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Washington and Mitchell streets.

Police had Mitchell Street blocked before noon. The area was re-opened after the backpack was deemed harmless.
