A 17-year-old boy was shot to death during an argument Tuesday at his girlfriend’s Henry County home, according to police.

Investigators believe Dalton McCollough, of Hampton, had driven to his girlfriend’s home on Wyckliffe Drive in Locust Grove late Tuesday morning, Lt. Joey Smith with Henry police said. McCollough and his girlfriend, a teenager whose name was not released, got into an argument, Smith said.

During the altercation, the girl’s younger brother shot McCollough, who died from his injuries, Smith said. The alleged shooter’s name and age were not released late Tuesday. He was being questioned by detectives.

McCollough was a junior at Hampton High School, a spokesman for the Henry County school system said. A crisis support team will be at the school for students and staff Wednesday morning, he said.
