A Cobb County man was killed Monday night when his motorcycle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle, ejecting him.

Timothy A. McGill, 49, of Marietta, died shortly after 9 p.m. after hitting a brick mailbox on Shaw Road, south of Oak Springs Drive near Marietta, Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb County police said Tuesday.

Investigators have not yet determined why McGill crossed the double line on his red 1987 Honda Hurricane, causing him to hit a Mitsubishi Outlander on the driver’s side front quarter panel, Pierce said. Neither the driver of the Mitsubishi nor the passenger, both 17, were injured in the crash, according to police.

A 2009 Toyota Camry, which was ahead of the motorcycle, was also damaged in the crash. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were not injured, Pierce said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
