A Clayton County police officer traffic cop was transported by ambulance Thursday after his patrol car crashed with a truck just outside the courthouse

The department did not identify the 46-year-old officer or say who was at fault but said he had no no broken bones and was in stable condition at the Atlanta Medical Center.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Rick Daley and Tara boulevards near the county justice complex in Jonesboro, said JaQuitta Williams, public-information officer for the department.

The officer has been with the department since 2007 and is part of the Special Enforcement Divisions Traffic Unit, Williams said.

The crash is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol, she said.
