Dogs are invited to join their owners for one last swim this weekend to cap off Brookhaven’s summer pool season.

The city held a “Doggy Dip Day” at Murphey Candler Park earlier in September, but Brookhaven decided that one pooch pool day wasn’t enough. A second one will take place at Briarwood Park Pool from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release.

The public pool, located at 2235 Briarwood Way, made its grand opening in early September following a $3.5 million renovation project.

Dogs will be able to run right into the new “zero-entry” pool — also known as beach-style entry — and enjoy its various spray features. Dog owners will only be allowed to wade up to their knees. Life guards will also be on duty.

As a COVID-19 precaution, participants must register in advance for hour-long blocks, and only two people per dog are allowed, the release said. Entry costs $10 per dog for every hour block. Pet owners will also have to sign a COVID-19 pool waiver when they arrive.
