An 11-year-old boy and a motorcyclist both died over the weekend after they were hit by cars in Cobb County, according to police.

Cobb investigators were first sent to the area of Austell Road north of Milford Church Road in Austell about 2:15 p.m. Friday, according to police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk.

Sandra Duncan, 36, of Marietta, had been driving a gray 2016 Dodge Charger southbound on Austell Road, Delk said. Steven Winiarczyk, 47, of Dallas, was heading northbound on a white 2017 Honda CRF1000 motorcycle, he said.

Duncan was turning left to enter the Milford Crossing Shopping Center when she hit Winiarczyk’s motorcycle, Delk said. Winiarczyk was thrown from the bike and onto the roadway, according to Delk. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead Saturday.

Duncan was not injured in the wreck.

Two days later, police were sent to Lucky Drive in Marietta, where investigators said 65-year-old David Mondecar was heading westbound in a red 2005 Volvo XC90 about 5 p.m.

Mondecar, who lived on Lucky Drive, went around a sharp left curve while driving through the neighborhood, Delk said. An 11-year-old boy who also lived on that road was riding his bike along the curve from the opposite direction, Delk said. The boy and his bike smashed into the front of the Volvo, he said.

The child was taken to Kennestone, where he was pronounced dead.

Mondecar was not injured.

Both crashes are under investigation and no charges have been filed in either incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.
