A woman is expected to survive after being shot Monday afternoon in a road rage incident on U.S. 78 near Mountain Industrial Boulevard, DeKalb County police said.

But late Monday, investigators had not located the alleged gunman.

After an altercation on the roadway, a man operating a newer model Ford Mustang fired several shots into a yellow Corvette, Major S.R. Fore said.

The woman, identified as 44-year-old Angelina Christiano, was driving the Corvette. She was taken to the hospital, where she was in serious condition Monday afternoon, Fore said.

Christiano was driving with her 25-year-old son when the Mustang pulled up close behind her in the center lane, Channel 2 Action News reported. She motioned for the Mustang’s driver to go around her, but instead he fired several shots, hitting her in the upper back.

Investigators believe the Mustang may have exited onto Mountain Industrial, Fore said. No witnesses had reported a tag number, but police are hopeful someone may have seen the car involved.

The search continued late Monday for the suspected gunman. Anyone with information on the incident or the man’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
