Authorities have released the name of a man whose body was found in a Douglas County subdivision.

Henry Hudson, 55, was found dead on Hunters Ridge Drive May 19, according to Douglasville police. His body was so badly decomposed that immediate identification was not possible, police said Thursday.

The exact cause of Hudson’s death hasn’t been determined, but police said there are no signs of foul play.

Authorities said police encountered Hudson four days before his body was discovered behind some bushes in the Hunters Ridge subdivision.

On May 15, officers were sent to the 7200 block of Brittany Way to investigate a report of suspicious activity, the police department said.

The woman who called police told officers she heard noises coming from the lower level of her home. She also said that a security camera inside her home had been turned from where she previously had it aimed, police said.

The woman said she suspected it was Hudson inside the house. Officers learned the woman previously reported him after Hudson allegedly blocked her in the neighborhood with his car and stole her purse and her house key.

When officers approached the house, they said Hudson ran away from the back of the home. They chased him and said they lost sight of him as he ran into the wood line. Police said a K-9 team arrived and tracked Hudson through multiple yards, but lost his trail after crossing a creek.

“After ending their search with no success, officers issued warrants on Henry for burglary and obstruction,” police said.

The cause of Hudson’s death will be released after an autopsy is complete.
