The GBI arrested a recently fired North Georgia jailer Friday because of his “inappropriate actions” against an inmate, according to investigators.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office requested Tuesday that the GBI conduct a review of jailer Jason Michael Fair, 34, of Clayton. Three days later, GBI officers arrested Fair on charges of battery, violation of oath of office and false statements and writings, agent Kimberly Williams said.

Fair was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center. His bond was set at $23,000, according to detention records.

After the investigation concludes, the case will be turned over to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney, George Christian, for prosecution.
