Motorcyclist killed in DeKalb crash identified

DeKalb County police Monday identified the motorcyclist killed in a weekend crash on I-285 as Chaz Miller, 29, of Norcross.

DeKalb County police said Miller was riding just west of Moreland Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected.

Miller died at the scene, police said.

The interstate was shut down for three hours during the investigation.

A police spokeswoman said Monday morning that no other drivers are facing any charges.

Other recent fatal motorcycle accidents:

Sept. 25: Brandon Charles Roy, 38, was stopped on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with three cars in the westbound left lane on Beaver Ruin Road near I-85 when he was struck. He died at the scene. Kenneth Eugene Griffin, 42, of Dacula was charged with allegedly causing the wreck.

Sept. 10: Jose Santiago-Maldonado, 30, was killed in a wreck at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and South River Industrial Drive in DeKalb County. Toney Smith, 60, was charged with hit-and-run.
