An Atlanta police officer was treated for neck and back pain after his patrol car overturned in a crash early Wednesday morning, officials confirmed.

The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital to be checked out, but his injuries were minor, Atlanta police Officer Jarius Daughtery said. The officer has since been released from the hospital.

Daughtery said the officer, who has not been identified, was on his way to respond to another officer’s request for assistance about 1 a.m. when he hit a curb on Metropolitan Parkway near Deckner Avenue. The vehicle flipped over.

He was wearing a seat belt at the time, Atlanta police Lt. Marilyn Bighon told Channel 2 Action News. Fellow officers came to the crash site to help him out of his overturned car, she said.
