A man who walked away from a Hapeville senior living center last week has been found dead, authorities said Thanksgiving morning.

Ozzie Murphy was last seen Monday night at Hapeville Manor, at 601 Coleman Street. Wednesday, his family and Omega Psi Phi fraternity brothers plastered the area with flyers and commenced a foot search hoping he would be found safe.

"It is with great sadness that we report that Mr. (Ozzie) Murphy was located deceased," Hapeville Police said on Twitter. "This is certainly not the ending we had all hoped and prayed for. Please keep his family in your thoughts on this most difficult day."

Officials have not announced a cause of death, or said when or where Murphy was found.

His son, Julius Murphy, told Channel 2 Action News that his father had Alzheimer's disease and did not communicate well. The younger Murphy was afraid his father would be unable to ask for help or tell someone he was lost.
