Seven students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after one school bus rear-ended another Tuesday afternoon in northwest Atlanta, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Collier Road and DeFoor Avenue, Atlanta fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford said.

There were a total of 53 students aboard both buses and some of them complained of injuries at the scene, Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Seth Coleman said.

Paramedics evaluated the students at the scene and seven were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for observation, authorities said. Other students were picked up by their parents and driven home.

The students were from E. Rivers Elementary School, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Atlanta police said the at-fault driver will be cited.
