MARTA rail service was restored at the Brookhaven station after a deadly crash Tuesday morning caused authorities to shut down power.

A train leaving the station about 6:45 a.m. hit and killed a trespasser on the tracks, transit agency spokeswoman Stephany Fisher told AJC.com. Rail power was immediately turned off, and those on board the train were moved to another train.

During an investigation, bus transportation was provided for rail customers between the Lindbergh Center and Chamblee stations. The scene was cleared, power was restored and normal service resumed by 12:25 p.m., Fisher said.

The victim in the crash has not been identified.
