Four students were injured after a car and a DeKalb County school bus collided Monday morning, district officials said.

The bus was on its way to Columbia High School when it was hit on its side by a Chrysler 300, the DeKalb County School District said in a statement. Police said the accident occurred in the 3300 block of Tulip Drive, which is less than two miles from the school and near Glenwood Road.

Nine students were on board, according to officials. The conditions of the four injured students were not released.

“It's been reported that there are minor injuries,” DeKalb police spokesman J.D. Spencer told Channel 2 Action News.

Police cited the bus driver for failure to maintain lane, Spencer said.
