A 6-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car in LaGrange on Saturday, according to authorities.

LaGrange Police said the incident happened in the 1000 block of Kelley Street. The boy, Tristan Nixon, was struck by a van driven by Gene Patrick Bailey, 23, of Pine Mountain.

Police said the boy was critically injured after riding an electric scooter in the roadway and colliding with the van. He was flown to Children’s Hospital in Atlanta where he died of his injuries, police said.

Police said in a preliminary investigation that the boy was at fault in the collision.
