Atlanta police increase reward in I-20 shooting death to $5K

Ernesto Anderson was found Jan. 4 on the shoulder of I-20 westbound at Capitol Avenue.

Atlanta police have increased the reward to $5,000 for information about the murder of a man found shot in the head alongside I-20 earlier this month, according to Crime Stoppers.

Ernesto Anderson, 32, was found Jan. 4 on the shoulder of I-20 westbound at Capitol Avenue near downtown, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Anderson was unconscious but still breathing when he was discovered. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital but died from his injuries the following day.

At the time, investigators said it was unclear what led to the fatal shooting. The investigation revealed that Anderson had lost control of the car and hit a guardrail, and a gun was found in the car.

Now, the APD is seeking information on a murder charge and has increased the reward, according to the Crime Stoppers alert.
