September 11, 2020 Stone Mountain: Henry County Fire Captain, Travis Miller with bagpipes (center) beholds the mountain top view of Atlanta with fellow firefighters. Over 100 firefighters from various metro Atlanta Fire departments including: Fayetteville Fire, Fayetteville Police, Fayette County Fire, Henry County Fire, Spalding County Fire, Union City Fire, Morrow Fire, Barrow County Fire, Johns Creek Fire, Gwinnett County Fire and DeKalb County Fire Rescue ascended Stone Mountain on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. The 6th annual climb was sponsored by the Fayetteville Fire Department who challenged themselves and fellow firefighters to the one-mile climb, equivalent to 160 flights of stairs. Wearing a full complement of firefighting gear, the group tested their endurance in honor of the sacrifices made by 343 firefighters and paramedics who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
