Metro Atlanta hospitals welcome first babies of 2025

Oh, baby! The newest metro Atlantans made an entrance in the wee hours of the new year at hospitals across the region.

Born at 12:27 a.m., Mara Farias just missed the countdown festivities. Weighing 9 pounds, 1 ounce, the little girl was born at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville to parents Trinity Salas and Luis Farias.

Piedmont Newnan welcomed a baby boy less than an hour later.

Drayden Fletcher was born at 1:11 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 5.8 ounces. He’s the second child for mom Angela Fletcher and dad CJ Fletcher from Sharpsburg.

A little girl was born at the same time at Wellstar Kennestone Medical Center.

Seven-pound, 15.5 ounce Hallie Mathis arrived at 1:11 a.m. to parents Lauren and Ross Mathis of Marietta.

A little girl came next, born at Piedmont Fayette at 2:07 a.m.

Jade Johnson, weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces, was born to mom Jordan Johnson and dad Mark Mitchell.

Twin siblings were born about 30 minutes later at Piedmont Macon Hospital.

Baby boy Alonte Woods came first, at 2:44 a.m., weighing 3 pounds, 3.9 ounces. Sister Alonna Woods arrived moments later at 2:52 a.m., weighing 3 pounds, 13.6 ounces.

They are the second and third children to mom LaShondra Johnson and dad Alton Woods, and are being cared for at the hospital’s NICU.

“I’m blessed with two beautiful babies,” LaShondra Johnson said.

Wellstar Douglas Medical Center welcomed its first baby less than an hour later.

Ja’Lonnie Jorjiana Taplin was born at 3:35 a.m. weighing 6 pounds, 8.8 ounces. She was born to mom Tyra Crosby and dad Fabian Taplin Jr. of Douglasville.

Another little girl was the first baby born in the new year at Piedmont Athens Regional.

Lily Clayton arrived at 4:33 a.m. weighing 7 pounds to mom Abigail Clayton and dad Zach Clayton.

“She was so excited to be born on New Year’s Day that she, too, wanted to wear a party hat,” hospital spokesperson Sarah Teach said.

The first baby at Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center arrived at 5:37 a.m.

Antonia Aponte-Osorio, weighing 7 pounds, 15.3 ounces, was born to mom Valentina Osorio and dad Sebastian Aponte of Atlanta.

A few minutes later in Cumming, a baby boy was born at Northside Hospital Forsyth.

Baker Moss Anderson was born at 5:39 a.m. to mom Sarah Anderson and dad Brett Anderson. He weighed in a 6 pounds, 15 ounces.

Zander Richard Smith arrived at 9:27 a.m. at Wellstar Spalding Medical Center. The 8-pound, 4-ounce baby was the Griffin hospital’s first baby of the year, born to mom Kayla Smith and dad Caleb Smith of Thomaston.

Wellstar Cobb Medical Center’s first baby of the year arrived at 11:13 a.m.

Genesis Murry, weighing 7 pounds, 7.8 ounces, was born to mom Adrian Evans and dad Lee Murry of Lawrenceville.
