Bottoms announced May 4, 2021, the creation of a new working group to provide recommendations for reducing crime amid a spike in homicides and gun violence in the city. The members of the group, who have not been announced, will provide feedback in the next 30 to 45 days on “what more we can possibly do” in the short term to address crime, Bottoms said. TEXT: J.D. May 2020 -- When Atlanta protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis erupted into late night property destruction and looting, Bottoms appeared on TV pleading for protesters to "Go home!" WSB-TV
