Another drive-thru food pantry is coming to the Norcross branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library thanks to a partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The food bank first hosted a drive-thru pantry at the Norcross branch on July 7. They’ll return on Tuesday, July 21.

Volunteers will bring the packages of food to people’s cars, placing them in the trunk or back seat when possible to minimize person-to-person contact. The packages will have a mix of shelf-stable goods and up to 20 lbs. of fresh produce.

No pre-registration is required and the food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of one package per vehicle, and those picking up should stay in their cars.

The coronavirus pandemic has led to millions of people losing their jobs and food insecurity spiking across the country. The Atlanta Community Food Bank and other organizations focused on helping feed people have organized drive-thru pickups like this so people can get food while minimizing contact with others.

The drive-thru will operate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 21. The Norcross branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library is located at 6025 Buford Highway.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
